Description
Get information ready for a discussion about measurement uncertainty (MU). Use six short questions to note which records you have found, where they are kept and what you still need help with. No calculations are needed.
What is included
- An editable Word sheet designed to fit on one page.
- A matching one-page printable PDF.
- A completed one-page fictional example about finding records for a plasma glucose test. It shows brief notes and questions for the reviewer.
How to use it
Start with the current test instructions, any existing MU report, routine control records and other available documents. Note file locations instead of copying large amounts of data. Write “not known” where you need help. An experienced reviewer decides which records are relevant.
Designed for staff who are new to laboratory quality as well as experienced staff who want a compact record. You do not need to fill every gap yourself.
This is an independent information-gathering aid. It does not select an MU method, assess whether a dataset is sufficient, provide calculation steps or produce an uncertainty report. It does not replace professional guidance or specialist software, and is not an ICSH document. The fictional dates are not a recommended data period.
Read the measurement uncertainty guide for more explanation. You can separately choose the free introductory email course. The Laboratory Quality A–Z explains unfamiliar terms.
