Metrology foundations
- JCGM 200:2012 — International Vocabulary of Metrology — definitions and terminology.
- JCGM 100:2008 — Guide to the Expression of Uncertainty in Measurement — the core uncertainty framework.
- JCGM GUM-6:2020 — Developing and using measurement models — developing a measurement model.
- JCGM 101:2008 — Propagation of distributions using Monte Carlo — distribution propagation.
- JCGM 2026 amendment — Nonlinearity and the GUM — nonlinearity and the output estimate.
- BIPM/JCGM publication index — check editions and amendments.
Medical laboratory guidance
- ISO 22367:2026 — Application of risk management to medical laboratories — current second edition, published April 2026, replacing 2020. Public scope and status checked 3 October 2026; complete 2026 text not reviewed. Read the introductory risk guide for source context and links to Stephen’s Pathology in Practice series.
- ISO/TS 20914:2019 — public scope and status — estimating and expressing MU; public listing checked, not a clause-by-clause review of the licensed standard.
- CLSI EP15 — Precision verification and bias estimation (public overview) — a defined verification scope, not all of validation.
- CLSI EP09 — Patient-sample method comparison (public overview) — differences between procedures using patient specimens.
- CLSI C24 — Statistical quality control (public overview) — QC strategy and use.
- CLSI EP17 — Detection capability (public overview) — distinguish blank, detection and quantification capability.
- CLSI EP29 — Expression of Measurement Uncertainty — archived; CLSI identifies it as technically valid but no longer consensus-reviewed. Do not present it as a newly updated guideline.
- CLSI EP14 Guide — Evaluation of Commutability of Processed Samples — public overview of assessing whether processed materials behave like patient samples across measurement procedures; relevant to the EQA guide.
- CLSI EP23 — Laboratory Quality Control Based on Risk Management — public scope: develop a QC plan for the measuring system, setting and clinical application. Read alongside the IQC guide; consult the full guideline for its recommendations.

- Eurachem 2026 — Uncertainty from precision and recovery: concentration dependence — 2026 first edition; public overview checked, full PDF not reviewed here.
- NIST/SEMATECH — Measures of scale — interpreting dispersion.
- NIST/SEMATECH — Confidence limits for the mean — uncertainty in an estimated mean.
- EFLM task group: EQA performance specifications (2017) — terminology for understanding scheme assessments.
- Bland & Altman (1986) — Statistical methods for assessing agreement — author-hosted paper explaining why correlation alone cannot establish agreement; supports the method comparison guide.
- IFCC Working Group (2018) — Recommendations for assessing commutability, Part 1 — general experimental design for commutability assessment; an open manuscript explaining why material behaviour matters when interpreting comparisons and EQA.
- NIST/SEMATECH — Variables control charts — control limits, patterns and the distinction between process behaviour and specifications; statistical background to the IQC example.
